Teach Your Children To Keep Passwords Secret

Posted by: David Spira

Children aren’t going to understand the importance of keeping passwords secret unless you explain it to them.

I had a conversation with a guy the other day, and he told me about his son’s personal password tragedy. The kid really liked an online game. He played it often and accumulated a lot of valuable in-game items; magic swords and armor. One day another guy in the game convinced his son to give up his password. The guy stole all of his son’s equipment and left his character essentially naked.

The bright-side of this story is that his son learned a valuable lesson about password protection, privacy, and security within the safety of a game. As upset as the child was, the damage wasn’t irreparable.

My message is simple, teach your children to keep passwords secret.

After you teach them, they can choose to ignore you as a teenager… But that will be on them, you did your job.

Teach your children to practice safe computing.

MAG, 256 1st person shooters on 1 map, the good, the bad and the ugly!

Posted by: Michael Alfaro

I’ve sure you’ve all seen commercials recently for this.  While the idea itself sounds amazing, 256 people on 1 map as a 1st person shooter, you quickly start to wonder, can I survive more then 10 secs?

The video looks good of course, but the beta reviews are showing a different story:

“I’m sure you know the basics of MAG, but if you need a refresher, this is the game that boasts MMO elements and 256 players online. When you start a career, you’ll side with one of the three private military corporations in the game (Valor, SVER or Raven) and begin fighting battles in its honor. You’ll be part of an eight-man squad that’s part of a 32-man platoon that’s part of the 128-person army. Each of those levels have leaders who are to guide the troops as one organized unit of attack.”

“I enjoy running and gunning as much as the next guy and taking down a room filled with enemies, but it’s a pain to wait 20 seconds to respawn, then run forever to the next objective, and then get sniped by someone camping over on the horizon. Don’t get me wrong, I know that happens in these types of games all the time, but you’re being asked to cover a lot more ground than your usual shooter and then you have to wait upwards of 20 seconds to respawn.”

Project Natal Xbox 360 Vs PS3 motion control Vs Wii motion control

Posted by: Michael Alfaro

Found this on ign.com today and was awesome segment to watch of the very near future of motion gaming. The Wii was so revolutionary with it’s motion control that Sony and Microsoft are just now showing their developments in the area (way to catch up boys!). I guess something revolutionary should buy you at least a 2-3 year head start, I mean isn’t that what the iPhone has over the next closest phone Droid. BTW, David Spira has one in our office and man it’s pretty slick. Once the open source kicks in, unless they change their policies, its going to be lights out on the iPhone.

Check out the video below, it takes like 20 seconds and you’re hooked and asking where do I pre-order!

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet looks quite the illustrated adventure

Posted by: Pinaki Kathiari

Picture 13I just caught the trailer for Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet a video game by Michel Gagné’ and his shadow puppet illustration style. The game follows a UFO type ship as it battles through an insane system of arenas with various objectives.

The game looks mouth watering with all sorts of visual rides. Its only for PC (possibly for mac), but take a look!

Gotta give respect to certain levels of multi-tasking.

At my best I could do Guitar Hero on medium while holding a 1 year old Lucas.
